Who We Are
We are a 501c3 located in the very northern tip of Wisconsin. We rescue dogs, but there’s so much more going on with the work we do.

... the rescue and re-homing of dogs in need, especially the sled dog breeds. We also work with elderly and special needs dogs.
The name for the Storm Shelter Sled Dog Rescue comes from a special little Alaskan we used to have named Storm. She came from a shelter in Milwaukee and became an amazing sled dog and pet. Sadly she was struck and killed by a hit and run driver when she chased a coyote from our yard when she was only 2. We decided to name our rescue after her.
We added “Sanctuary” to our name when we decided that we would (when room allows) also take elderly / hospice dogs that need a place to live out the remainder of the years.
